Ryan Amon grew up in Elkhorn , Wisconsin, where he began composing music at an early age with a background in classical piano and saxophone. He attended the McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he studied songwriting, film composition, and motion imaging.

After receiving the Pete Carpenter Fellowship from BMI in 2003, he headed to Los Angeles and began his career composing music for various reality television projects, eventually moving on to the world of music for motion picture advertising and the formation of his own personal project and company, City of the Fallen, in 2009.  His music is profoundly influenced by his faith in Jesus Christ.

A prolific composer with the traditional orchestra, he also incorporates the use of ethnic instrumentation. This comes in part from his various travels to Central and South America, Asia, and Africa. Drawing from rock and electronic genres as well, he is continually exploring new avenues and voices of musical composition.

Ryan currently divides his time between his studio in the Washington DC area and his studio in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He lives with his wife, Carla and their daughter, Kenya.
